The Nepal Earthquake

The earthquake
s, which struck on April 25 and May 12, 2015, killed over 9,000 people and injured many thousands more.
Millions of people were left in need of humanitarian assistance and they will need years of support to fully recover from the disasters.When the 2015 monsoon season ended we began our first long-term recovery project by repairing four permanent classrooms at the Shree Bim Adarsha school in Bhaktapur. This project was completed at the end of the same year and we are currently assessing our next school reconstruction project.We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has made IDV’s Nepal response possible so far. This includes, but is not limited to Global Giving, Pukka Pies, Air Asia Indonesia, Medic One Indonesia, Mountain Quests, the Indonesian Social Media Community.  A special thanks also go to Try Clay.The incredible energy unleashed by the magnitude-7.8 earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25 moved Mount Everest more than an inch.Thousands of children affected by last month's earthquake in Nepal returned to schools on Sunday, a working day in the Himalayan nation, five weeks after the disaster killed more than 8,600 people and destroyed many homes.
A new earthquake of 7.3-magnitude hit devastated Nepal on May 12, just 17 days after large parts of Nepal were leveled and more than 8,000 had died.

The massive earthquake that shook Nepal on Tuesday was second deadly tremor to rock the country in little over two weeks.Earthquake-struck Nepal has been forced to close its international airport to big planes after its runway sustained damage from the influx of flights delivering aid.
